The ultimate GBA RPG franchise launches Nintendo's wireless revolution.
Cord-free Game Boy Advance connectivity begins with Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen versions - a GBA Wireless Adapter is included with each game. Both revisit the Kanto region first explored in Pokémon Red and Blue versions, but new features - both large and small - freshen up the familiar world. Double Battles, which were introduced in Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire, come to Kanto, and improved graphics fill the screen with lush beauty.
The Wireless Adapter lets you trade, battle, and talk with other Pokémon players without the fuss of connecting with Game Link cables. The Union Room, located on the second floor of Pokémon Centers, notes the number of players within the Wireless Adapter's connection radius. You can walk up to people in the room and key in chat messages, or use preset phrases for quick communication. Other offerings: expanded gameplay in a vast new island chain, the ability for in-game characters to teach moves to Pokémon and multiplayer minigames.
Both games connect with Pokémon Ruby, Pokémon Sapphire, and Pokémon Colosseum, bridging the gap between Kanto, Hoenn, and Orre.
Comments:
Steven - As a longtime Pokémon player, I'm most pulled back to Kanto by what's entirely new - the sprawling island chain - and what really makes this a must-have game is the included Wireless Adapter.
Jessica - The innovative connectivity features really take Pokémon to the next level of gaming and promote Pokémon community.
Alan - I don't think RPG fans have ever given Pokémon a fair shake. There's a great game hiding under all the Pikachu cuteness, and you have to play it for only a bit to find yourself addicted.
